Program Description:
In March, 2006, Borland initiated a transition of one division to adopt Scrum, an agile software development method. Jorge Rodriguez, Sue Shreve and Jeff McKenna were all involved in that effort. At the SEM SIG meeting in September, 2007, they will be presenting the challenges, successes and missteps of their experience during the transition.
This event will benefit software developers, engineers, managers, and executives and who wish to learn about SCRUM and its implementation. Active participation throughout the program is encouraged.
About the Speakers:
Jorge Rodriguez: Software Executive, Entrepreneur and Turnaround Expert
In the course of a 20 year career in software development, Jorge Rodriguez has proven to be a skilled executive, visionary entrepreneur, adroit trouble-shooter and turnaround expert. He has worked in telecommunications with Siemens and Nortel; overseen all aspects of Research and Development, Services and Support for a software startup that was later acquired by Borland and served as Vice President of Engineering at Borland Software for product lines ranging from $40+M to $110+M in revenue.
Jorge holds a B.S from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida and is fluent in Spanish.
Sue Shreve: Director of Product Management
Sue has been involved in all aspects of software product and systems development. She was first at Lockheed Martin where she held positions of increasing responsibility including Lead Structural Engineer and Advanced Systems Engineering Specialist, on a large classified program. She became involved in commercial software when she joined Ascent Logic, as a product manager and consultant. She has been working in enterprise applications ever since including Oracle, Siebel Systems and Borland Software.
Jeff McKenna: Agile Action Founder, Software Development Expert and Consultant
Jeff McKenna has been involved in all aspects of software development for some 45 years. Since the late 1980s Jeff has focused on the process side of development. He consulted on the very first Scrum project in 1993. Jeff currently works through Agile Action, a consultancy aiding the adoption of agile methods and practices in engineering organizations.
